Creatures of Habit is an insight and creative strategy studio. We use immersive and inventive methods to understand social practices and cultural narratives, and to help our clients tell better stories. We work with organisations from global tech giants to one-woman NGOs, from international brands to social enterprises. Our current clients include Instagram, Save The Children, Unilever, The Department for International Development, Hubbub and Girl Effect.

Video Content Apprentice

We make film content as part of our research, to create immersive outputs that support our qualitative studies on consumer behaviours and audience insights. We also create standalone film content for clients and projects that speak to our ethos and provide impactful positive behaviour change. As such, our films often focus on issues of development, human rights, LGBTQI activism and sustainability. We also sometimes enjoy laughing about less serious things.

We are a collaborative organisation, with many opportunities to be part of thematic workshopping sessions. We take our role as filmmakers very seriously – prioritising informed consent with often vulnerable contributors and awareness of the power dynamics at play within filmmaking, particularly in terms of race, gender, income, sexual orientation and gender identity.

You will be supporting the producer in their activities, which include planning and executing shoots domestically and abroad, and coordinating complex post production. This will be a great opportunity to learn from an experienced and collaborative multi-disciplinary team, eager to pass on their knowledge, and to learn from others. We are based in Walthamstow, E17.

Entry requirements

Our apprentice will have studied video production, with experience in working with photography and curating online content. While we are excited at the prospect of providing training and opportunities, a little bit of experience will be useful and should portray a keen interest in filmmaking.

Video production studies should include some practical experience with camera, editing (Adobe Premier a bonus), sound recording, and a sound understanding of the production process. We welcome applicants who can talk us through their own production work and passionately present their contribution to projects they are proud of.
