Our gaming students at Big Creative Training joined forces with EXP Leisure to complete a one of a kind industry work placement like no other. EXP is a unique venue in bustling creative hub Hackney Wick, designed to satisfy all types of gaming communities. In addition to regular gaming sessions, the venue is known for running successful events and learning workshops. The work placement EXP provided for the students gave them a hands on experience, teaching them a variety of new skills in various different areas such as; augmented reality, 3D modelling, character development and design, storyline development and target marketing strategies. By the end of the week the students put together a showcase of what they learnt opening a free gaming event to the public.
The students event featured a wide range of activities including a Outdoor Zombie Game, a Design Workshop, an Art Expo showcasing the students character designs, an After school Gaming Club teaching kids how to play popular video games like Minecraft and they even built an Escape Room. The objective of the event was for the students to explore different areas in the industry, to develop their skills and to apply their gaming knowledge learnt through their studies. Overall, EXP provided our gaming students with invaluable industry experience that they will be able to carry with them embarking into a professional environment.
